Our Word of the Year: Value

In recent years, many have abandoned traditional new year’s resolutions in favor of a word of the year. According to U.S. News and World Report, 80 percent of resolutions fail, so this trend makes sense. Of course goal-setting is still important, especially when it comes to a marketing plan. However, a single word can provide clear direction, motivation, and purpose when working toward those goals. The right word should be realistic and support the goals you wish to achieve.

When choosing a word of the year, Inc.com suggests taking these five steps:

1. Take a moment to reflect and be self-aware.

2. Visualize your word.

3. Brainstorm.

4. Narrow your options

5. Tell others and test your word.

It didn’t take us much reflection, visualization, or brainstorming to determine our word of the year.

Our word for 2020 is value.

Meriam-Webster defines value as, “relative worth, utility, or importance” or “something (such as a principle or quality) intrinsically valuable or desirable.”

In marketing, value is often expressed as the relationship between benefits and cost. It encompasses four types: functional value, monetary value, social value, and psychological value.

At The Social Bullpen, value is at the core of everything we do.

We follow a set of values including service, care, value, integrity, innovation, and teamwork. These values define who we are as a team and what we bring to our customers. We provide value by offering our services at a cost that is affordable for our clients.

We bring value, not just activity. We work with our clients to determine their needs and make sure we deliver results that will exceed expectations.

We value our clients. Finally, our clients are the reason we are here. Our purpose is to serve others and our mission is to provide the best marketing services possible to ensure success and satisfaction. Without our clients, we wouldn’t exist.

Value is already essential to what we do. As we move into 2020, this word will be even more important. It will help us focus our efforts, activity, content, teamwork and service. Value is what we do and what we bring.

If you are looking for value and not just activity, we can help.
